Lopapeysa - where does it come from?
We are very ambitious about our Icelandic "Lopapeysa". It's made of a pure Icelandic wool in several traditional patterns. We also make scarves, mittens and caps to go with it. It's made by Icelanders and sold in Icelandic souvenirs shops all around the country.

First there is a sheep...

Then there is the yarn...

Then there is an eager knitter,,,

And here is the scarf......

.... in many colors

"lopapeysa"

... more "lopapeysa"

... and no, we don't have pink and red sheep here in Iceland, we  just color the yarn :)

Gamla fjósið - Old Cowhouse

If you are travelling the South Coast of Iceland and want to grab a bite to eat in a beautiful surroundings  you should visit this wonderful little coffee shop / restaurant in Hvassafell, Eyjafjöll (861). It's a former cow house that was transformed into this delicious coffee shop (restaurant in the evenings) with home baked goodies and if you are lucky there will be a band playing in the corner. This is a very neat and cozy place to visit and the atmosphere is very friendly. Visit their home page on Facebook for more information:

Traveling in Iceland, take care ❤

It's a wonderful experience to travel in Iceland but if you are on your own there are a few things to consider:

Our roads are narrow, even the main road around the country.

This sign means that asphalt ends and a gravel road is ahead.
Be sure to slow down and enter the gravel road carefully, it can be very slippery.

Single road bridge. Believe it or not, we have a few all around the country.

Slow down, let the first car to arrive at the bridge pass.

Blind spots on hills, many of those signs around the country. Slow down.

Sheeps!
Very cute but dangerous around the roads.
They can sprint across the road  to gather with friends or family,
Be patient and slow down a bit.

Horses, beautiful creatures.
Slow down when you meet them, they can be rather jumpy.

Traveling alone?
Be sure to let someone know where you are heading and when you will be back.
You will want someone to look for you if something goes wrong.

Check the forecast. The weather in Iceland can change rapidly.

This is our emergency telephone number.
Memorize it.

Look at this website:

And finally: Remember to respect and enjoy our beautiful country.
